FIG HOUSE

Fig House is located a few steps up from the Terrace Cafe, behindOlive House. It comfortably sleeps 4 in 2 double bedrooms, with a fold out bed setee in the amber room which creates a comfortable double for a further 2 guests. All the bedrooms have lovely views onto Sirincevillage, and the house retains many original 19th Century features.

THE HOUSE AND TERRACE

Fig House has an intimate open plan living room and diner/ kitchen with a large fireplace and picture windows overlooking the village and the valley beyond stretching up to the mountains. There is comfortable seating as well as a novel breakfast bar made out of an old thresher. The bathroom is situated on the ground floor and boasts an antique rolltop bath and seperate shower.

A wooden staircase leads to the two bedrooms on the first floor. Both bedrooms have far reaching views over the village and the valley, and are furnished with a mix of antique furniture and contemporary pieces. All the bedding is bespoke by Sally Lovalvo and made of 100% Turkish cotton.

There is a lovely kitchen garden to the front of the house, with shade provided by a mature fig tree. There is also a terraced area to the side of the house, with a table for outdoor dining and sun loungers.

A complimentary breakfast of fresh local produce is served daily at the Terrace Cafe. If you do not wish to cook during your stay, there are a number of tasty restaurants within a 2 minute walk, or you can join us on the Terrace for drinks, a 3 course evening meal or a lunchtime snack.

RESTORING FIG HOUSE

This two storey Sirince house was a ruin when we undertook its restoration. The upper floors had completely collapsed and there was a large fig tree growing out of the back wall. It would originally have housed cattle downstairs and the family would have lived upstairs. At the time, the house was inhabitated by a family of goats but the semicircular outline of the original frame of the front door was still in place and many of the villagers could remember when this family home had been inhabited.

The existing building had to be raised to the ground and the whole infrastructure of the house reestablished before the painstaking reconstruction work began on the house. Reconstruction work lasted 2 years. The outside of the house is white with smooth plaster and wooden windows and shutters, as all the houses in the village were originally.

We decided to leave the beautiful stone work inside exposed to remind the resident of its half metre thick stone walls, cool in summer and warm in winter.

We are very happy to welcome children to our houses, but please be aware that the houses are not toddler proof. Sirince is a safe village with few cars. There is also a wonderful sandy beach with excellent swimming at Pamucak (12km) which children of all ages will enjoy.
